Bamburgh Castle, Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle

Updated: Apr 8, 2021

Bamburgh Castle is a castle like no other. Bamburgh Castle has stood guard above the spectacular Northumberland coastline for over 1,400 years. Spanning nine acres of land on its rocky plateau, Bamburgh Castle is one of the largest inhabited castles in the country.

Bamburgh itself has a beautiful pristine beach with drifting sand dunes, snug entries in the village for sweet treats or a filling lunch and a striking view of the castle everywhere you turn.

With cheap entry and loads of family fun, Bamburgh Castle is a brilliant pitstop on your trip to Northumberland.

Craster, the cove famous for its smoked kipper, is just around the corner from Dunstanburgh Castle. Craster to Dunstanburgh makes a lovely 2 mile walk each way, with a beautiful view of the coastline and cliff edges as well as entry into the castle ruins that tower over the golf course.
