Alnmouth, home to our vans, is a peninsula packed with a variety of pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops and activities. The village was once an important harbour rapidly changed by a storm on Christmas Eve 1806, leaving Alnmouth stranded. With two sides to the beach, one always filled whilst the other is empty, it is recommended not to swim in the estuary. Alnmouth is crammed with elegant houses, including the row of colourful houses, as well as the endless amounts of wildlife to be spotted.
4 miles from Alnmouth, Amble Harbour is a town perfect for seafood lovers. Rows of pastel painted beach huts, fish shacks and many seafood shops allows the name 'the friendliest port' to be associated with the town.
Amble hugs the River Coquet, from which you can see Coquet Island from the harbour. The island is unvisited by foot however boat trips allow you to get close enough to see the bustling birdlife that, every spring, come to breed on the small island. Thousands of 'sea clowns' can be seen on the Island, Puffins who have earned the title from the clumsy mannerisms they possess.
